Frequently asked questions
What people ask us most
Do I need to know a lot about my family?
No. A name, a place and an approximate date are often enough. In the free assessment we tell you whether we can start.
How much does it cost and how do I pay?
It depends on what you are looking for. When there is a clear goal, we prepare a tailored quote after the free assessment. For stage-by-stage requests, the indicative prices are €180 to €240 up to your great-grandparents, €350 to €530 up to your great-great-grandparents and €640 to €1,150 up to your 3rd great-grandparents (total prices), VAT included. The exact price is fixed in the proposal, before we start. You pay half at the start and half on delivery.
What if you find nothing?
If the case is not feasible from the start, we charge at most €45 and refund the rest. If only some branches are blocked, we explain and adjust.
How long does it take?
Stage 1 takes 3 to 5 weeks on average. We confirm the timing before we start.
How far back can we go?
It depends on which records have survived. In Northern and Central Portugal it is common to reach the 18th century and, in many cases, the 17th.
Can it be used to apply for Portuguese citizenship?
We locate and document your ancestors' records, which is the first step. Whether you are entitled to citizenship must be assessed by a lawyer.
Can I ask for just one branch of the family?
Yes. We prepare a specific quote with a defined goal and price.
Do I receive the original documents?
You receive clear, identified digital copies of the documents found. Official certificates, when needed, are requested separately.
Is my data protected?
Yes. We use it only for the research and never share it without your permission.
I live outside Portugal. Can I order?
Yes. We handle everything remotely, by email and video call, in English, French, Portuguese, Spanish or Italian. The study can be delivered in your language.
